Tarot: Death

LJ is being inconsiderate again. I don't think it's going to stop because they don't have enough of a customer base outside of Russia anymore, and they don't grok Western young people's complaints.

Meanwhile I've been working on tarot art. I started this one a long time ago but only just decided to finish it.

This one is for the Death card.

Really like this one... The light and flames and atmosphere in the background are very cool. I also really like the way you drew the guy's hair for some reason.

Main critique is the pants... the dark outlines make them look a bit more flat/cartoony compared to the rest of the picture.

And yes about the lj drama, that is annoying. I did see them post something in news saying that they were listening to everything going on, curious to see if they will actually do anything about it.

I can't make up my mind whether to do these pics in a more cartoony style or not. The first griff one, with the swords and broken feathers, came out really cartoony. The rsakk high priestess was the opposite, and since then it seems to be a kind of blend. Maybe it looks bad, I don't know. It's easy to get too caught up in details when I do it realistic, and if I'm ever going to produce 78 of these things, I need to keep a pace. But I naturally paint realistically so sometimes I forget to keep it simple.

I think I'm still just working out my matte painting style. I need to be able to do a lot more with brushes as well. Looking through a lot of DeviantArt paintings, my current stuff is very unpolished compared to what it could be.

You could adjust the outlines to look like shadows from the light/fires

Just a thought

That's a good idea. The pants should be catching the light anyway.

That is incredible! I hope you can publish the deck so I can have one. =)

Well I didn't mean next week! =) There is such a good feel to this one though, I really would.

That would be really cool. I was thinking last night about ways I could publish it. I wonder whether there are inkjets that could print on high enough quality cardstock to make a good deck. Or I could try print-on-demand if it was inexpensive enough. Definitely a future possibility.

oooohhh, I really like the background of this :O The trees and the light and the flames. Also those white flowers in the foreground, I really like the milky-pastel look of them.

Makes me think of what comes after death, more than the transition itself.

oh, now the piccie is gone when I tried to comment. I could have had more Opinion on it! *indignant*

This message is a composite of Leonie and Imoh :-D

I also like the way the only real sense of colour is down the bottom in the flowers. I know the fire/light is colour but it is so monochromatic except for the bits at the bottom. Makes me think of hope.

That was part of the intent. :)

I blame the cyclone! Or your internet wiring or my hosting company. Is it working for you now?

Makes me think of what comes after death, more than the transition itself.

Is that a good or bad thing for a card someone's doing readings from?

For readings...a good thing. Makes death a metaphor, not just an ending.

And I would totally buy a deck too! Just not next week ;)

Hey does that mean you do readings? I didn't know that :)

It would be awesome to finish it and have you get the deck someday.

Didn't comment on this one back when it went up because ow, that rings loudly and true.

Also, is there a dreamwidth mirror for this journal now? Lee's at nevertheopal over there.

Hey thanks for coming back to tell me. It's easy to forget that sometimes when things mean the most, people don't say anything at all.
