Pyraxis the groupie

MPAA calls the Internet going dark in protest of SOPA 'An abuse of power'. In related news the Eye of Sauron accuses Hobbits of terrorism.

Half my friendlist seems to have gotten caught up in a My Little Pony craze. I couldn't help but join in.

Pouty contemptuous Twilight Sparkle and evil grinning Twilight with sparkles in her eyes. Fluttershy faceplanting into a wall.
Rainbow Dash the sore loser. Gobsmacked Pinkie Pie with her jaw hanging open. Grimacing Rarity.
Lightning-struck Dash with her mane standing on end. Horsey-faced Applejack with her eyes rolling up in her head.

*can't stop laughing* You picked fabulous expressions to draw. That is a very graceful Fluttershy there.

(If you haven't seen it, check out Season 2 episode 3 "Lesson Zero" sometime. I think it's my favorite episode. It gets really twisted.)

Hahaha, okay, I will look it up. I also like the Nightmare Moon one. It reminds me of guess who. :P

I like! I haven't gotten into the craze yet, even though I had My Little Pony toys as a kid. The new show seems to be intoxicating adults left and right, though...

Yeah, it's kind of nuts. Near as I can figure, it's because it illustrates social dynamics, and it gives guys implicit permission to be gay.

Explanation for it's popularity:
Lauren Faust, who worked with Genndy Tartakovsy of Samurai Jack fame, and Craig McCracken (she's married to him) of Power Puff Girls. Tartakpvsky also directed Star Wars: Clone Wars. He won Emmys for Samurai Jack and for Star Wars.
Faust did Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and if you look closely you can see elements of Foster's and Samurai Jack in the animation style and art.
Faust won an Emmy for Fosters. She's not doing the third season, but its a winning formula so I bet they continue it.

Have you seen any of Clone Wars? From the little I've heard it was terrible, which would be out of character for Tartakovsky.

I had no idea those little ponies made such hilarious faces!

It is a carefully chosen selection. :P

(And as somebody who used to continually get hounded by profs to push my animation, I figure there's a lot I could learn. Not that I did anything to these poor little bastards that I haven't already done to myself.)

Yeah, one of the things I have discovered I love about having a drawing tablet is that combined with my crappy webcam, I can quick and easy make reference photos that I CAN'T DO WITH A MIRROR! And then the photos will be RIGHT THERE! I feel like that guy who discovered milk or something, only dumber.

So now I spend a lot of time just making stupid faces at my webcam for reference. Of which you've seen a good few.

Hahaha yeah, those faces you did before were cool. But you're generally good with illustrating emotional dynamics, both in art and writing.

These pics were the result of my tablet PC getting a virus and needing to be restored from factory defaults, and me being too frustrated with reinstalling stuff to do anymore more than old-school scribbles.

I take that as a high compliment, since that's what I aspire to do most with my work.

Oh no! Viruses suck. I hope your PC is back to normal now.

aw. and i thought you were doing it to spend time with me...

*pokes tongue out* I was.

I wish you would do more caricatures. It's such a good way to see the other side of things.
I should go see if I can learn it, since I can draw a little now.
